INWIT’s new DAS provides stable mobile coverage and high-speed data connectivity throughout the approximately 45,000-square-metre Maria Cecilia Hospital, a highly specialised facility within the GVM Care & Research hospital group.
Maria Cecilia Hospital in Cotignola, near Ravenna, can now rely on comprehensive, high-performance indoor mobile coverage thanks to a new DAS (Distributed Antenna System) deployed by INWIT. The system has been designed to ensure an efficient signal in every area of the highly specialised facility, part of GVM Care & Research, one of Italy’s leading hospital groups.
A system featuring 80 latest-generation micro-antennas
At the heart of the project is a network of around 80 latest-generation micro-antennas, strategically positioned throughout the hospital. Their widespread deployment ensures a seamless connectivity experience for both data transmission and voice calls.
More digital services for patients, staff and visitors
In addition to smooth browsing and uninterrupted calls, the extensive coverage provided by the new system supports the adoption of advanced technologies: from the digitalisation of clinical and healthcare processes to document management and faster internal communications. The result is best-in-class signal reception for patients, visitors, and medical and healthcare staff.
“In recent years, more than 150 healthcare facilities have chosen INWIT’s shared digital infrastructure to enable indoor connectivity. The project delivered at Maria Cecilia Hospital confirms INWIT’s central role in supporting excellence in the healthcare sector. Providing stable, high-performance mobile connectivity within hospital facilities means enabling increasingly innovative services for healthcare professionals and, above all, improving the experience and quality of stay for patients and their families,” said Lucio Golinelli, Chief Smart Infrastructure Officer at INWIT.
