Sustainability

From attention towards the environment to the training of employees: projects for INWIT sustainability and the methods for achieving it.

The concept of sustainability has come a long way in the last few years in all industrial sectors: right from its beginnings, INWIT has put great emphasis on this process, which regards the company’s economic, environmental and social impact.

INWIT firmly believes that before being directed and communicated externally, the culture of sustainability must first be acquired inside the organization. In addition, our company has set up numerous activities and projects aimed at developing the processes typical of a sustainable business. These initiatives include the drawing up of the 2021-2023 Sustainability Plan, the setting up of a process of stakeholder engagement and the establishment of a new materiality matrix. All these projects are taking INWIT towards the future, maintaining an important link with its employees and with the external environment.

Sustainability for INWIT is an integral part of corporate strategies

The 2021 – 2023 sustainability plan

Governance, People, Environment, Innovation and Community: these are the fields in which the company is committed in the 2021 – 2023 Sustainability Plan and which characterize the present and the future of our business.

In accordance with the industrial strategy and in line with what is set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, established in September 2015 by the governments of the 193 member countries of the UN, INWIT has drawn up its own 2021-2023 Sustainability Plan based on five ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) areas of commitment linked to one or more medium-long-term objectives, as described below.

The 5 areas of commitment in the 2021-2023 Sustainability Plan

Governance

To develop and maintain a system of governance aligned with the best national and international practices.

Sustainable Development Goals

INWIT has identified the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN Agenda to which it can contribute directly through its core business:

Enterprises, Innovation and Infrastructures

the objective is to Construct a resilient infrastructure, to promote innovation and a fair, responsible and sustainable industrialisation..

Sustainable Cities and Communities

which has the objective of making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, long-lasting and sustainable.

INWIT’s business contributes to achieving other SDGs integrated inside the Sustainability Plan. These include health and safety, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, as well as environmental and ethical themes of the business and partnerships.

The capitals

In order to follow the path of sustainability undertaken, INWIT has published the third voluntary Statement of a Non-Financial nature containing information relating to environmental and social themes and themes relating to staff, the respect of human rights and the fight against corruption to the extent necessary to ensure an understanding of business activities.

This reporting activity is a first step of a program which will develop further in future reports. Adherence to the principles of the Integrated Report requires illustrating the process with which the organization creates value over time. The document is aimed at effectively reflecting the value generated by INWIT, using a structure divided into capitals, defined as the variables that determine the creation of value.
