INWIT brings innovation to the G20 Rome summit

DAS microantenna Coverage of the Fuksas ‘Cloud’ has been completed In conjunction with the summit of the Heads of State.

Rome, 29 October 2021– INWIT, the most important Italian tower company, has completed the creation of an indoor coverage system with DAS (Distributed Antenna System) technology at the ‘Cloud’ Convention Centre in Rome.

40 microantennas were installed in the system, connected to each other and powered by a signal that reaches the conference centre via optical fibre. The new coverage makes the signal of all mobile operators stable and fast, allowing the optimal use of all devices, from smartphones to tablets and PCs with a wireless connection. The DAS system will immediately improve current technologies up to 4G and will be set up for 5G technology. The small size and very low power of this system also mean that its visual and electromagnetic impact is absolutely negligible.

“I am very proud to have been able to make our most innovative technology available to an important conference centre like the Cloud, and in addition at such an important time for the city of Rome as the G20 summit,” stated the Chief Executive Officer of INWIT, Giovanni Ferigo. “I believe this is a really big step towards a digital future that will allow the conference facility to set up a network connection enabling it to develop increasingly high performance services.”
