Behind every figure in INWIT’s 2025 Integrated Report is a place, a person and a choice. This series tells their stories.
“INWIT is an ambitious company that challenges you to grow, while offering extensive support and showing genuine care for its people. Having the time to watch your family grow and the space to reinvent yourself professionally are not separate things: together, they are the key to feeling truly valued.”
This is how Riccardo Didoni, now a Pre-Sales Specialist at INWIT, sums up his three and a half years with the company: a journey in which professional development and changes in his personal life have come together in unexpected ways.
From technology to the market: how his role evolved
Riccardo joined INWIT in a role focused on the technical design of DAS (Distributed Antenna System) infrastructure. Over time, he became keen to develop his expertise in pre-sales: combining his technical background with commercial insight and translating engineering requirements into an open dialogue with customers. This came naturally to Riccardo; he simply needed the right opportunity to express it and reinvent himself.
When an internal mobility opportunity arose within the Smart Infrastructure Business Unit, close collaboration between line managers and the Human Resources, Organization & Sustainability Department enabled a swift and seamless transition.
“I wanted to grow and challenge myself in a different capacity,” says Riccardo. “The company’s support at this stage was crucial. It gave me confidence and allowed me to embrace the change, knowing that I could shape a new career path.”
Mentoring: dialogue as a tool for growth
Riccardo’s professional journey also became intertwined with INWIT’s internal mentoring programme, designed to encourage the exchange of skills and perspectives across different generations and roles. Riccardo took part in its first edition, which concluded at the end of 2025. Through sessions with his colleague and mentor, Carla Mariuzzo, he strengthened soft skills that are essential to his day-to-day work.
“Mentoring taught me, above all, the value of questioning myself. Engaging with someone whose experience and career path are different from mine helped me break out of familiar patterns and look at the way I work with greater awareness. Sometimes, finding the right answer straight away is not what matters most. It is more important to pause, listen and try to look at a situation from a different perspective.”
The programme benefited everyone involved, mentors and mentees alike. “When you bring two generations together, each naturally learns from the other, gaining insight into ways of thinking and working that there is rarely time to explore in depth.”
Parenthood at work: 10 additional days of paternity leave
The most personal chapter in Riccardo’s journey at INWIT began with the birth of his daughter. He was among the first employees to benefit from the additional 10 days of paid paternity leave introduced by INWIT last year, on top of the statutory entitlement under Italian law.
“My personal life has changed enormously over my three years at INWIT,” he says. “Being able to take that leave meant I could support my wife during the most demanding moments and, above all, build a strong bond with my daughter from the very beginning. Finding a workplace that recognises and responds to these needs, while helping people balance their personal and professional lives, makes a real difference.”
An infrastructure powered by people
The value of the critical infrastructure serving the country is measured not only by towers and indoor antennas, but also by the company’s ability to recognise and develop the people who keep it running. INWIT places its people at the heart of its corporate strategy, fostering a sense of belonging, engagement and shared values through skills development, well-being initiatives and measures that support work-life balance. Riccardo’s story shows how INWIT’s commitment to social sustainability translates into practical, everyday action.
“In my career, I have never experienced such a strong focus on people as I have at INWIT. It shows that business growth, professional development and well-being can go hand in hand.”
