CDP Climate Change rewards INWIT’s commitment by upgrading its score to A-

INWIT was promoted by CDP Climate Change, which raised its score from B to A-, to Leadership level. Italy’s leading tower operator is among more than 23,000 companies that have reported their commitment in terms of climate change governance, impacts, risks and opportunities. The main strengths that led to the score improvement are: a strong governance of climate aspects and the full integration of these aspects into business strategies. Significant progress was achieved in the areas of value chain engagement and Scope 1&2 and Scope 3 emissions reporting.

CDP, an international not-for-profit organisation, recognised the transparency and value of INWIT’s commitment: the leading tower operator started in 2020 with an F score and today achieving a score such as A-, testifies to its commitment to sustainable business.

There are many important points in INWIT’s climate strategy. First of all, a CO2 emission reduction target to 2030, validated by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) and aligned with the indications of the scientific community and international agreements to fight climate change, which have the goal of keeping global warming below 1.5 °C.

Furthermore, INWIT promotes the decarbonisation of its activities, towards Net Zero, through the use of power from renewable energy sources, strong investments in energy efficiency and a reinforced involvement of its supply chain on climate aspects.

“This upgrade makes us really proud and encourages us to do even more in the fight against climate change, said Michelangelo Suigo, Director of External Relations, Communication and Sustainability at INWIT -. Achieving the Leadership level in CDP Climate Change is an important step in our journey and consolidates the validity of our climate strategy towards Net Zero.”
