INWIT G7 Technical partner
DAS Infrastructure created to enable Tim, Vodafone and Iliad 5G for Summit of Heads State and Government
INWIT, the main Italian tower operator, has created the infrastructure that allows the improvement of current telecommunications technologies up to 5G at the G7 Heads of State and Government summit which will be hosted in Borgo Egnazia from 13 to 15 June, providing the structure of a DAS (Distributed Antenna System) coverage system. Thanks to this investment INWIT has obtained recognition as a technical partner of the G7 of Savelletri di Fasano (BR). The infrastructure supports the 5G connectivity of the operators TIM, Vodafone and Iliad.
57 microantennas and 6 km of optical fiber throughout the area
The Borgo Egnazia facility has been equipped with a multi-operator DAS system covering an area of 45,000 m2, with the installation of 57 microantennas and 6 km of optical fibre. This will guarantee optimal coverage in all the main internal and external common areas, including spaces such as the swimming pools, the arena, the events center, the Piazzetta del Borgo, the reception, the meeting rooms, the portico, the restaurants and the offices.
The presence of the 5G network in the summit areas will ensure a stable and fast signal, accessible to mobile operators. This will allow devices such as smartphones, tablets and PCs to connect, improving Internet browsing and the user experience. The microantennas, small in size and with very low power, are designed to be almost invisible, guarantee a low visual impact and adapt perfectly even to structures of artistic value, preserving the beauty of the places.
Diego Galli’s statement
“INWIT works constantly to provide digital, shared infrastructure to all operators, fast and efficient, as in the case of the G7 which will be held in Borgo Egnazia. Putting our innovative technology also at the service of important events that see Italy as a main player confirms INWIT’s role as an enabler of the digitisation of the country”.
This is the statement from Diego Galli, General Director of INWIT.
INWIT’s initiative not only demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting events of international importance, but also highlights its key role in promoting digitalisation in Italy. Thanks to this cutting-edge infrastructure, G7 participants will be able to benefit from stable and efficient connectivity, contributing to the success of the event and the projection of a modern and efficient image of the country.
