TIME includes INWIT in the ranking of the most sustainable companies in the world

INWIT is the only company in the telecommunications sector, positioned in third place among the Italian companies and in 86th place among the 500 world excellences.

INWIT, one of the main Italian digital infrastructure companies, confirms itself as a protagonist in sustainable development at a global level, obtaining 86th place in the World’s Best Companies – Sustainable Growth” ranking by TIME and Statista. The company is also in 3rd place among the only 18 Italian companies present in the ranking, standing out as the only representative of the telecommunications sector.

The ranking, drawn up by the famous American publishing brand TIME in collaboration with Statista, rewards the 500 companies that have demonstrated the best performance in terms of sustainable development, maintaining solid financial stability and significant revenue growth. INWIT obtained an overall score of 82.85 out of 100, the result of a business model that fully integrates ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles into the corporate strategy.

An intrinsically sustainable business model

INWIT has built its success on an ambitious and structured sustainability plan, which in recent years has led the company to achieve important goals, including: the validation of the Net Zero target for 2040 by SBTi; the certification of Environmental, Health and Safety, Energy and Gender Equality Management systems; the implementation of the 5G Plan of the PNRR Italia, contributing to the reduction of the digital divide.

In 2024 INWIT also published its first Integrated Report, an innovative document that combines the Non-Financial Declaration and the Annual Financial Report, together with the first Climate Transition Plan, a further step to transparently report the path towards sustainability.

Michelangelo Suigo, Director of External Relations, Communication and Sustainability of INWIT, declared:

“Obtaining a prestigious recognition like the one drawn up by TIME magazine for the second time in a year is an incentive for us to continue along the ESG path undertaken and a confirmation of the validity of our sustainability plan and the “intrinsically sustainable” business model, based on digital and shared infrastructures and capable of combining industrial, economic, social and environmental efficiency. In this model, sustainability represents a lever for the creation of long-term value for the benefit of all stakeholders, customers, territories and communities in which we operate”.

A rigorous selection to reward excellence

The “World’s Best Companies – Sustainable Growth” ranking selected the 500 best companies starting from an initial sample of 3,000 of the largest and most influential in the world. The evaluation process was based on three main dimensions:

  • Revenue Growth 2021-2023;
  • Financial stability, analyzed through consolidated metrics;
  • Environmental impact, assessed in terms of direct and indirect emissions (GHG scope 1-2-3), use of resources such as water and energy and waste management.

This recognition confirms how INWIT is a point of reference for sustainability in the digital infrastructure sector, committed to combining economic growth, technological innovation and respect for the environment.
