Rome, 8 August 2021 – The article entitled “Iliad alla battaglia delle torri ricorre a Bruxelles contro Inwit” signed by Sara Bennewitz, appeared on the edition of La Repubblica of August 8 u.s., imposes some necessary clarifications.

On March 6, 2020, the European Commission declared compatible with the common market the creation of a company aimed at combining the passive mobile telecommunications infrastructure in Italy, subject to compliance with the commitments undertaken by the companies concerned on March 3, 2020. INWIT has always fully and punctually implemented these commitments, both formally and substantively, to the benefit of all mobile network operators and providers of fixed wireless access services active in Italy. In this context, it should also be noted that INWIT is not a party to the proceedings brought by Iliad against the above-mentioned measure of the European Commission authorizing the integration of the company, which it hopes to see promptly resolved, in line with its role as neutral host. INWIT therefore has no role in the alleged negotiations, which are also referred to in the article and, finally, INWIT is not giving up “an important slice of revenues”, pursuing its objectives of maximizing profits and business development with Iliad and other market customers, in its own exclusive interest and that of all shareholders.

Iliad alla battaglia delle torri ricorre a Bruxelles contro Inwit – la Repubblica

In una mail a Repubblica, Inwit precisa che in data 6 marzo 2020, la Commissione Europea ha dichiarato compatibile con il mercato comune la creazione di una impresa volta a combinare le infrastrutture passive di telecomunicazioni mobili in Italia, subordinatamente al rispetto degli impegni assunti dalle imprese interessate in data 3 marzo 2020. A tali impegni, Inwit ha sempre dato completa e puntuale attuazione, sotto il profilo formale e sostanziale, a beneficio di tutti gli operatori di rete mobile e fornitori di servizi di fixed wireless access attivi nel nostro Paese. In tale contesto, si precisa altresì che Inwit non è parte nel procedimento azionato da Iliad avverso il menzionato provvedimento della Commissione Europea di autorizzazione all’integrazione societaria, del quale essa auspica una pronta definizione, in coerenza con il ruolo di neutral host ricoperto. INWIT non ha pertanto ruolo nelle asserite negoziazioni, di cui pure si riferisce nell’articolo e, infine, Inwit non rinuncia affatto “a un’importante fetta di ricavi”, perseguendo i propri obiettivi di massimizzazione dei profitti e dello sviluppo del business con Iliad e gli altri clienti del mercato, nell’esclusivo interesse proprio e di tutti gli azionisti.
