INWIT is among the most sustainable companies in the world in TIME’s ranking
THIRD PLACE AMONG ITALIAN COMPANIES, 86TH PLACE AMONG 500 OUTSTANDING GLOBAL ENTERPRISES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Suigo (INWIT): “Obtaining a prestigious award like TIME’s for the second time in a year is an incentive for us to continue on the ESG path and confirmation of the validity of our sustainability plan and ‘intrinsically sustainable’ business model, based on digital and shared infrastructures and capable of combining industrial, economic, social and environmental efficiency”.
Rome 27 November 2024 – INWIT, one of Italy’s leading digital infrastructure companies, has entered TIME’s top rankings of the 500 companies that have demonstrated outstanding performance in sustainable development at global level while maintaining financial stability and revenue growth.
With an overall score of 82.85 out of 100, INWIT was ranked 86th globally and 3rd among the 18 Italian companies included in the ranking, and was the only one in the telecommunications sector.
The “World’s Best Companies – Sustainable Growth” ranking is compiled by the prestigious American global publishing brand TIME together with Statista, which specialises in business rankings, and is based on the concept of the “World’s Most Sustainable Companies” and the “World’s Best Companies.”
INWIT’s result represents recognition of the value of its sustainable business model in which sustainability is perfectly integrated into its corporate strategy through the Sustainability Plan, which is split into the ESG areas (Environmental, Social and Governance). This path has led the company to achieve important results, including the validation of its 2040 Net Zero target by SBTi and certification for its Environmental, Health and Safety, Energy Management Systems and for Gender Equality, indispensable building blocks for the responsible conduct of its business, which are in addition to its commitment to reduce the digital divide, with the execution of the “Italia 5G” Plan of the NRRP. This year marked another milestone in the reporting journey with the publication of the first Integrated Report, a single document containing the Non-Financial Statement and Annual Financial Report, and its first Climate Transition Plan.
“Obtaining a prestigious award like TIME’s for the second time in a year is an incentive for us to continue on the ESG path and confirmation of the validity of our sustainability plan and ‘intrinsically sustainable’ business model, based on digital and shared infrastructures and capable of combining industrial, economic, social and environmental efficiency,” stated Michelangelo Suigo, Head of External Relations, Communication and Sustainability at INWIT. In this model sustainability represents a lever to create long-term value to benefit all stakeholders, customers, territories and communities in which we operate”.
After collaborating to identify the world’s most sustainable companies, Statista and Time Magazine have now identified companies that excel in their commitment to sustainable development. The companies selected among the “World’s Best Companies – Sustainable Growth” are part of an initial sample of 3,000 of the world’s largest and most influential companies, which were then subjected to a rigorous selection process based on three dimensions: revenue growth, financial stability and environmental impact. A scoring system was applied to each of the dimensions and given equal weight. Specifically, after selecting companies with above-average revenue growth (over the 2021-2023 period), their financial stability was analysed on the basis of consolidated metrics, and lastly their environmental impact was assessed, considering direct and indirect emissions (GHG scopes 1-2-3), the use of resources such as water and energy, and waste generation.
