With ACEA, INWIT brings mobile coverage to 40,000 sqm of corporate space
The evolution of digital infrastructure is transforming the workplaces of Italy’s large enterprises: offices, operational sites and corporate campuses are becoming increasingly connected environments, enabling new models of efficiency and collaboration. Comprehensive, multi-operator indoor connectivity is no longer optional; it is an infrastructure requirement for organisations operating in strategic sectors.
Against this backdrop, the collaboration between INWIT, Italy’s leading digital infrastructure company, and ACEA, one of the country’s leading multi-utilities, demonstrates how scalable, replicable solutions can bring mobile coverage to large corporate headquarters.
“The collaboration with ACEA confirms INWIT’s central role as an enabler of digital transformation for the country’s major industrial organisations. Through our DAS infrastructure, we enhance workplaces, turning them into digital ecosystems and ensuring pervasive connectivity and high performance in every area. This project lays the foundations for an enhanced overall customer experience, equipping ACEA with a powerful infrastructure ready to enable new smart building, IoT and security services.”
Lucio Golinelli, Chief Smart Infrastructure Officer at INWIT.
Connectivity driving efficiency and service quality
ACEA’s Rome headquarters is now fully connected to a latest-generation, multi-operator DAS deployed by INWIT.
The infrastructure covers a total area of around 40,000 square metres across 11 floors, giving employees, other personnel and partners seamless, uninterrupted voice and data connectivity across indoor and outdoor areas.
The system comprises four remote units connected to around 180 micro-antennas with minimal visual and electromagnetic impact. This architecture enables ultra-fast, stable mobile connections and lays the groundwork for future smart building and Internet of Things (IoT) services, as well as optimised corporate security management.
“For Acea, technological innovation is a strategic lever for improving operational efficiency and the quality of the services we provide to citizens. Thanks to our collaboration with INWIT, our headquarters can now rely on connectivity offering even higher performance and reliability. This project, which also involves the ARETI site and our Innovation Center, strengthens ACEA’s digital transformation journey. Having advanced infrastructure means making our workplaces increasingly connected, efficient and ready to meet future challenges.”
Emiliano Sorrenti, Chief Digital, IT & Cybersecurity Officer at ACEA.
Extending the project: ARETI and the Innovation Center
The indoor digitalisation plan coordinated by INWIT is not limited to the headquarters but extends to other key assets of the ACEA Group, confirming the importance of widespread network coverage in ensuring the efficiency of essential public services.
| Project Site | Area Covered | Status |
|---|---|---|
| ACEA Headquarters | Over 40,000 sqm | Active / Operational |
| ARETI Site | Over 2,320 sqm | Active / Operational |
| ACEA Innovation Center and Vehicle Depot | Over 2,831 sqm | Under construction |
Overall, the project involves the activation of three new DAS systems, supporting faster communications and the optimisation of document management and operational procedures.
