INWIT and Enel, together for the ecological transformation of a sustainable Italy

accordo inwit enel

A memorandum of intent launches the collaboration between the two players, to promote sustainability, innovation and digital inclusiveness in our country.

A memorandum of intent has been signed between INWIT and Enel Italia to accelerate the path of sustainable growth in our country. This important partnership, which will last three years, has the challenging goal of reducing CO2 emissions and optimizing the use of economic resources, in line with the commitment of the two companies to sustainability.

INWIT, Italy’s largest tower operator, responsibly pursues the task of promoting a more equitable and sustainable society through digital transformation, fostering innovation and inclusion, through the adoption of increasingly circular production models.

The Enel Group, world leader in the production of electricity from renewable sources, has in turn long been committed to the implementation of sustainability policies and the use of electricity also in the field of digital technologies, to enable the economic and social growth of the country.

With the signing of this memorandum of understanding, INWIT takes a further step in the process of commitments made with the Sustainability Plan 2021-2023, through which it intends to further strengthen its role as an enabler of digital development in support of telecommunications operators and lay the foundations for the development of quality infrastructure, increasingly reliable, resilient and sustainable.

With this partnership, INWIT and Enel are therefore committed to contribute together to the construction of a country that ensures greater digital inclusiveness, and therefore also social, cultural and economic. Among the many initiatives that can be implemented under the agreement, of particular importance are the development of photovoltaic systems combined with storage systems in INWIT sites and projects for the efficiency of energy consumption. In this context there are also actions oriented to circular economy, with the recovery and reuse of materials at the end of life, and sustainable mobility, through the electrification of company vehicles. Further possible interventions then concern the use of efficient lighting solutions and the joint development of IoT services, the latter already at the center of INWIT’s actions in the area.

The collaboration with Enel allows us to give a new boost and speed up on the ecological transformation of our country” – Giovanni Ferigo, INWIT’s CEO, declared – “We are aware of the strategic role played by our business and believe that these agreements, through the sharing of reciprocal competences, are an essential tool in successfully identifying innovative solutions with positive impacts on the general public”.

Through this agreement – said Carlo Tamburi, Director of Enel Italia – we are further strengthening our commitment to the energy transition. Collaboration with an infrastructure operator like INWIT is particularly strategic for promoting and disseminating circular solutions and fostering the digitalization process, which is one of the fundamental levers for transitioning to a more sustainable model”.
