INWIT brings the tower of the future to the Earth Technology Expo
Florence will showcase the evolution of the sector to support operators and the Civil Protection Department: IoT sensors to monitor the region and to prevent climate risks.
Florence, 12 October 2021 – From tomorrow until 16 October INWIT, the leading Italian Tower Operator, will have a stand at the first EARTH TECHNOLOGY EXPO. The fair, which will be held at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, will be dedicated to technological innovation to support Italy’s ecological and digital transition.
Organised by Fiera Firenze in collaboration with the Italian Civil Protection Department, for INWIT the event represents an opportunity to explain the evolution of telecommunications infrastructure towards increasingly smart towers equipped with IoT sensors to monitor the territory and weather conditions.
The towers of the future, therefore, will no longer be mere telecommunications hubs, but instead they will become real digital assets. They will be capable of effectively responding to a multitude of challenges, such as the forecasting, prevention and management of climate risks, thereby making a solid contribution to the digital transformation of the country’s economic and social activities.
A prototype of the over 22,000 towers spread throughout Italy will be available for viewing at INWIT’s stand to provide an understanding of how the use of these infrastructures might evolve.
INWIT will also be present, with the Head of External Relations, Communication and Sustainability, Michelangelo Suigo, on the panel that will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. entitled: “Broadband is here. The opportunity of 5G as a strategic driver of innovation”, which will discuss the close relationship between new technologies and the digital and sustainable development of the country.
