INWIT leader in the fight against climate change: CDP Climate Change Score upgrade to A-

Rome, 6 February 2024 – INWIT promoted by CDP Climate Change, taking the score to Leadership level from B to A-.  Italy’s main tower operator is among more than 23,000 companies reporting on their commitment to climate change in terms of governance, impact, risks and opportunities. The main strengths that have led to the improvement in the score are: strong governance of climate aspects and full integration of these aspects into business strategies. Significant progress has been achieved by the company in the value chain engagement and reporting of Scope 1&2 e Scope 3 emissions areas.

The path towards a sustainable business undertaken by INWIT continues with renewed recognition of the transparency and soundness of its commitment to climate change by the international non-profit organization CDP.

INWIT has a CO2 emissions reduction target for 2030, validated by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), aligned with the recommendations of the scientific community and with international agreements to fight climate change, which aim to maintain global warming below 1.5 °C.

In the course of decarbonising its business, INWIT has also established a climate strategy to achieve Net Zero, for the purpose of which the company will continue to leverage the use of electricity from renewable sources, involving solar-powered self-generation and purchase, as well as to increase investments in energy efficiency and strengthen the involvement of its supply chain in climate aspects.

“This upgrade makes us proud and encourages us to do more and more in the fight against climate change – said Michelangelo Suigo, INWIT’s External Relations, Communication and Sustainability Director -. Achieving the CDP Climate Change Leadership level is an important step in our journey and confirms the soundness of our Net Zero climate strategy”.
