Telecommunications infrastructure as a service for the exhibition centres of Rho and Milan

The strategic partnership between INWIT, Italy’s leading tower operator, and Fiera Milano, Italy’s leading trade fair and conference operator, which will make the exhibition hubs of Rho and Milan a true “Smart City”, has been approved.

The agreement provides INWIT with the exclusive management and technological development of all the passive infrastructures supporting mobile telecommunications at the exhibition centre in Rho and the Allianz MiCo in Milan. The project will cover a total area of 551,000 square metres and will aim to enable both indoor and outdoor connectivity at the service of all operators through the integrated management of existing structures: mobile telecommunications towers, Distributed Antenna System (DAS), small cells and fibre optics. The agreement envisages further investment in dedicated indoor DAS coverage to upgrade to 5G

“The strategic partnership with Fiera Milano confirms INWIT’s commitment to support, with know-how and investments, the implementation and management of digital infrastructures, shared and open to all operators, in order to efficiently enable 5G connectivity both outdoors and indoors – said Diego Galli, INWIT’s General Manager.

This will give exhibitors and visitors the opportunity to benefit from a secure and fast mobile coverage.

The 15-year partnership will enable the Fiera Milano Group to offer services at a high technological level and will also provide the Group with important opportunities in the run-up to the future Olympic Games.

“Through this agreement, Fiera Milano and INWIT says Francesco Conci, CEO and General Manager of Fiera Milanoare looking to the future and the technological transformations taking place with the aim of guaranteeing and offering quality and cutting-edge services to the visitor, exhibitor and organiser: an approach capable of ensuring an increasingly better customer experience”

The deal is in line with INWIT’s business plan, which includes investments aimed at enabling the growing demand for digital infrastructure also in “large campuses” to support electronic communications operators, with optimisation of financial resources, operational efficiency and management simplification.
