Interview with Marco Bussone, UNCEM President

Marco Bussone, President of Uncem – Unione nazionale dei Comuni, delle Comunità e degli Enti montani (National Union of Municipalities, Communities and Mountain Authorities) – has been interviewed for the “𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘦 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪-𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘮𝘰 𝘙𝘦𝘵𝘦” column, dedicated to the collaborations between INWIT, towns and cities in Italy.

UNCEM President said:

There is an urgent need to solve the country’s emergency on the infrastructure gap, a divide that becomes the cause of social inequalities between territories. Investing in digital infrastructures for the mobile network is essential to reduce these inequalities.

Speaking more specifically about the Digital Divide and the opportunities for citizens and the country, President Marco Bussone added:

Investing in territories to reduce the Digital Divide furthermore becomes an opportunity for citizens and a fundamental cohesive tool for the country.

During the interview with UNCEM President Marco Bussone, PNRR and the importance of new infrastructure to support the territory were also discussed.

In order to support the effective implementation of the projects included in the NRP, it is necessary to shorten the approval times. Applications for new infrastructure must be accelerated.

Lastly, Marco Bussone added:

In the memorandum of understanding with INWIT, we signed a pact between territories, public administration, and businesses to jointly resolve the digital divide that is becoming the cause of social inequalities between territories, specifying that it is a commitment that serves the entire country, not just small communities. The digitisation and infrastructuring of territories lies in the future of a more united and cohesive country, and this is a great future-proof commitment.
