INWIT Towers for Open Fiber

3 December 2018

The Tlc company will use them to create ultra-broadband wireless

INWIT will provide its towers to Open Fiber to create a part of the OF network using Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology.

Open Fiber will use some of the 11,000 towers that make up INWIT’s infrastructure in the areas where it won Infratel tenders to create passive ultra-broadband infrastructure.

The tenders involve reaching 9.3 million building units in 16 Italian regions plus the autonomous province of Trent. For some of these, FWA technology will be used. All the others will be reached by optical fiber to the home. Thanks to the dense spread of its tower infrastructure, INWIT will contribute to Open Fiber’s rapid completion of FWA infrastructure.
