A lively and welcoming area, but also one full of challenges from an infrastructural point of view, with disparities between the urban areas and the hinterland suburbs: a very particular case, underlined by the mayor, is the one of the town of Galliano, which was completely lacking both mobile signal and internet connection.

The town, within the framework of the Pnrr’s Italy 5G Plan, has joined forces with INWIT to work on reducing regional inequalities and its Digital Divide: INWIT’s digital and shared infrastructure for the new-generation, low environmental impact 5G mobile network has made it possible to cover the entire area. The absence of signal, in this small Tuscan village, had brought the story on the major national and international newspapers, thus becoming “representative” for all those territories in Digital Divide both at regional and national level.
