TourFOR5G continues: sixth stop in Bari

tour for 5 g bari

The TourFOR5G continues with its sixth stop in 2023 after Naples, Rome, Florence, Genoa and Catanzaro. This time the travelling event organised by Fondazione Ottimisti&Razionali in collaboration with INWIT landed in Puglia, in Bari. The meeting took place on Friday 16 June at 11.30 am at the Council Chamber of the city hall of Bari. The event, titled “Digital Transition: Between PNRR and Private Local Authorities and Simplifications”, has, as always, been an opportunity for an in-depth look at the country’s technological and digital development, in this case focusing on the city of Bari and, more generally, on the entire Region of Puglia.

Once again, many authoritative guests attended:

  • Giovanna Bruno, Mayor of Andria;
  • Domenico Calcaterra, RETURN Partnership – University of Naples Federico II;
  • Laura Di Raimondo, General Manager Asstel;
  • Eugenio Di Sciascio, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Technological Innovation;
  • Michelangelo Suigo, External Relations, Communication and Sustainability Manager INWIT;
  • Claudio Velardi, President of the Optimists&Rationals Foundation.

“A study by the Piepoli Institute shows that for 88% of Italians, connectivity is a right, and that 6 out of 10 Italians would be willing to accept certain inconveniences in order to have a cutting-edge connection. INWIT makes its digital, shared and sustainable infrastructure available to support all telecommunications operators in order to make the Mezzogiorno grow as well – said Michelangelo Suigo, Director of External Relations, Communication and Sustainability at INWIT -. The biggest obstacle is due to the authorisation process, which is still too long, despite the important steps forward that have been taken. We are working together with local authorities and all the institutions to accelerate this process, and the TourFOR5G has precisely the objective of establishing increasingly strong relations with the territories in order to advance the digitalisation of the country’.

The objectives of the TourFOR5G remain the will to explore the immense potential of 5G and to highlight the importance of this technology in the territories’ development. It aims to counter the spread of false news using data, numbers and innovation experts, in order to make local communities aware of their fundamental centrality in the full implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP).
